International Mountainboard Film Festival 2010

The guys at ATB Junkies have teamed up with the guys at Bugsboarding to put on another film festival this year. Last years event went really well and there were loads of video entries. This year we are hoping for more! To make it more interesting NERO have sponsored the event and there will be 10 copies of the latest Nero Multimedia Suite up for grabs.

The International Mountainboard Film Festival is back and bigger than before. This year we have teamed up with Nero. To bring you Nero Multimedia Suit 2010 and we have 10 copies up for grabs.

For those that don’t know, this is the night you get to see some of the best mountainboard film out there. They all get their premiere showing at the event before being released. This year we have some exciting new categories for everyone to take part in.

The Film Festival is open to anyone with a video camera. This is your chance to see your creation on a massive 16 x 9ft cinema screen with popcorn and hotdogs.

King of 60 Seconds – Film Challenge
“Rotation” The main 4-10minute Film Challenge
X-Sports Challenge – 2 min film about any sport.

Kite Fest 2010 at Airbossworld this weekend 29-30th August

We will be heading down to Airbossworld this weekend to fly some kites and demo some boards. This is your chance to come and try out the latest from the MBS range.

The Airfield is Airboss’ own private inland flying site. There is loads of space for everyone and there will be demo kites from a bunch of different brands.

It is getting close now and any riders wishing to enter the World Freestyle Championships at Bugsboarding on August 14th/15th need to get signed up now! This is the biggest event of the year in the freestyle calendar and there will be many good riders involved. If you need some help getting yourself ready for the competition the MBS Pro Team are running a training camp at Bugsboarding the days before the event. This is a great chance to get expert tuition when you need it.

World Downhill Championships in Bardonecchia 3-4th July 2010

Bardonecchia is the place to be if you love a bit of downhill mountainboarding. There will be both brake and no brake disciplines and there will also be a freestyle competition. Last year was a great event and this year looks to be bigger and better. Tom Kirkman will be heading over to see if he can beat Pete Tatham (without using a brake and on normal 8″ tyres) after their closely fought race in France last year.

Hi guys,

HI-TEXT MOUNTAINBOARDWORLD DOWNHILL CHAMPIONSHIPS
this year will take place in Bardonnecchia (Italy) on July the 3rd and 4th!

Bardonecchia is in north west Piemonte on the border with France.
It is well connected by road, train (both national and international connections) and airport (Milan, Turin, Chambery and Geneva are all within easy reach of Bardonecchia). It’s about 50 minutes away from Turin by motorway and 2,30 hours from Lyon, 1 hour from Turin and 2 hours from Milan and Lyon by train. The international airport of Turin Caselle is about 1 hour away.

I encourage riders from all world coming to compete on a beautiful mountain track with a great atmosphere! We would like this race was the first truly international event in the history of European mountainboard, with riders from all world!

We have chairlift open from friday afternoon and for the weekend, nice residence accomodation in front of finish line, sponsor village and many party, barbeque and much more on friday and saturday night!!!

RESIDENCE VILLAGGIO CAMPO SMITH/Best Western is the selected hotel for overnight, a 4 stars residence in front of the race finish line. Riders and public will stay in 2/3/4 beds apartments with kitchen.

What is world mountainboard day?
World Mountainboard Day is a new global event starting in 2010. The idea is to bring new people into the sport we all love in the best possible way. This is a global effort supported by all major brands and mountainboard centres. Many are offering discounted rates or putting on special events to coincide with the day.

When is world mountainboard day?
This year (2010) it will be on June 19th.

Where is stuff happening?

BFC Cream Teas and Jam 2010

Finally the BFC have announced the dates and locations for their 2010 series of events. The 2009 events were some of the best of the year and saw some of the most epic riding. We hope this year will be just as good. The centres this time will be Knockhill. Bugsboarding and Surf the Turf.

Mountainboard Camps for Girls

Boardology have been organising mountainboard girlie camps for years now and they are always well attended and loved. We really recommend these to any girl looking to get into mountainboarding or progress their riding a bit. This is one of the few opportunities to spend time with and ride with a load of other girls.

This is the 4th year of DIRT FLIRT Mountain Boarding Girlie Camps and we’re delighted to announce that we’ll be heading to Haredown Mountain Boarding Centre from the 6th-8th August as well as to Hales Superbole in Chester from the 9th-11th July this year.

Haredown is situated in the heart of the South Downs in West Sussex, only a few miles away from Chichester, not far from Portsmouth, Southampton, Brighton and Guildford and just over an hour away from London. The centre is set in 20 acres of sloping grass and woodland, with runs for absolute beginners through to some of the UK’s best boarder-cross and freestyle facilities.

The DIRT FLIRT Mountainboarding Camps are open to all levels of rider; from newbies to advanced, so whether you have never set foot on a board before, or you just want to improve on your freestyle without any blokes about, this is the best place to do it! Some of the UK’s best female riders will be there guiding you down the hills making sure you have an exhillerating weekend. Please note that the emphasis is ALWAYS on having fun and trying something new in a friendly and super-encouraging environment.

ATC Training Camps Book Now

ATC Productions are well known in the industry for their mountainboard videos but the names behind it are even more well known. Tom Kirkman, Ollie Morrison and Tuai Lovejoy with guest appearances from the likes of Jamie Johnstone and Joe Dickson will be visiting various centres around the UK this summer. They are not just popping by to ride though, they will be running ATC Training Camps. This will give the future stars of mountainboarding, and those who just want a little help improving a chance to be coached by some of the best riders in the World.

Ask your local centre to see if they are holding a training camp and if not why not!

Want to go to one? We know the camp at Bugsboarding on 11th and 12th of August still has some places left!

World Mountainboard Day and BBC Thrillseeker

World Mountainboard Day was set as Saturday 19th June which also ties in with BBC Thrillseeker. Thrillseeker is all about encouraging people to be active and try out something new. To help people try out mountainboarding for the first time Bugsboarding Mountainboard Centre have teamed up with the ATBA and decided to make lessons and hire & ride half price.

It is expected to be busy so booking will be essential.

World Mountainboard Day is all about riding with your friends and having a good time. We hope to see as many boarders as possible out that weekend.

Wallop 2010 UK’s biggest landkite event

Outside of the BKSA Kiteival events Wallop has the potential to be the UK’s biggest land based kiting event. This event has a legendary track record for good riding and heavy socialising. It has been away for a few years but now it is back. There is not much time left however for booking tickets. The event runs from 6pm on Friday 28th to 4pm on 31st May. Find out more about Wallop 2010. We will be attending with boards to demo.
