The German ATBA would like to announce their Championships will be happening this year from the 14th to the 16th of August at Willingen. This is the 6th German ATB Championships.
International Riders Are Welcome!
Friday is going to be an open training day. On Saturday the downhill and boarder X will run. On Sunday the freestyle competition will be held. There will be camping and showering facilities on site. A crazy party is also on the cards.
This weekend was the CLA Game Fair 2009 at Belvoir Castle. The MBS Pro team were there with the MBS Pro Ramp which was sponsored by ATB Shop for the weekend – Thank you guys! We did 4 shows a day.
On top of that the Hire and Ride team, supported by the ATBA-UK taught over 250 children (and the odd adult) how to mountainboard. Belvoir was pretty flat but thanks to a bit of scaffolding and some wood a temporary hill was built allowing us to spread the joys of mountainboarding to the masses. Top riders such as Tom Kirkman and Joe Dickson also helped teach.
Like last years Game Fair which was held at Blenheim Palace, it was a great event for us. We look forward to next years event at Ragley Hall.
A new video from MBS Pro Kite Team rider Mark Berry plus friends. The video was shot during June and July 2009 at Goring Gap in Worthing. Mark shows off his usual style with massive airs, lots of spins and some huge kite loops. This showcases exactly why our riders need the MBS Pro 90 kiteboard. Let us know what you think.
All mountainboarders are invited to attend the mountainboard contest Master of the Hill which will take place on 25th July 2009 on the Kotelnica in Białka Tatrzańska. It’s the greatest mountainboarding event of the season in Poland!
Tough competition, great prizes, a brilliant show and fun during after party attracts all the best riders and mountainboarding fans from all over the Poland and abroad. Don’t miss it!
There is no division on age or gender categories. Everyone can compete. All competitors will have an opportunity to compete in two different events and classifications:
The DownHill is a fast ride with measured time on the longest and technically more difficult slope of 1300 m. The main event of the competition will be for advanced riders who qualify. It’s a very spectacular event that shows speed and technical abilities of riders and equipment in a rough terrain.
In the freestyle the style, technical difficulty and height all will be taken into account. A very spectacular event, where all the contestants perform tricks in the air similar to those done during the winter season on snowboard.

Unfortunately the first round of the 2009 mountainboard series had to be canceled on Friday due to extreme weather conditions. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come.
We have team riders all over Europe. The usual suspects tend to receive more exposure than many of our other riders but that is normally due to how often we get to see them and how popular the sport is in their country. We like to try and support all our riders though and give them all some exposure. Marcin Skubisz is a team rider from Poland. Check out this gallery for some great shots of him.
Just a little reminder that this weekend (17th-19th July) will be the first event of the 2009 UK series at Southwest Extreme (formerly SWMBC), Bideford. Some of the MBS crew have been down there helping to build the jumps and groom it a bit. It should be a solid event and as always we hope everyone will be supporting the event series.
The infamous World Freestyle Championships, held up until now at the Fat Face Night Air will be happening again this year. Fat Face have pulled out but the industry has come together to make the event happen again. Just like last year the event will be held at Bugsboarding Mountainboard Centre in Gloucestershire.
There is a £1000 cash prize fund to be won along with other prizes from Etnies, Oakley, Buff and many more. The number of entrants however will be limited. In order to guarantee your entry to the competition you will need to pre register online.
Please contact Bugsboarding for any queries about the event. International riders who require invitations please get in contact ASAP as we know the process can take some time.
We have finally found time to redo our website which had been running since 2005. It was tired and terribly outdated making updating hard and far from quick. Our new site is simple and easy to navigate. We hope to be able to keep everyone updated on all things going on at MBS and in mountainboarding and kiteboarding. We want to be able to help events and centres promote themselves in order to help continuing to develop the sports and communities that keep them alive.

Mark Berry and Tom Beaton road tripped it up for a weekend in France at the Slingshot Party 2009. The event was held in the Le Touquet which according to wikipedia has a reputation as the most elegant holiday resort of northern France, the playground of rich Parisians, with many luxury hotels.
The Saturday unfortunately was neither windy nor all that sunny. We did get to see some friendly faces however. We met up with Florent and co from Avenue De La Glisse which was nice. French kite team riders Claudine Podvin and Olivier Garret were there – with a 10 day old baby! We spent our time longboarding along the amazingly smooth promenade and checking out the town.
Sunday was hot. Really hot. The wind however was still absent. Again we spent our time chatting, skating and checking out the local cafes before heading back to the UK. Le Touquet is a great venue for a kite event. The beach looked flat and smooth when the tide was out, and the vibe at the event was great. Hopefully they will get some wind next year!
